I, like most who likely come to this site, am someone who has been intrigued by the thought of time-travel for as long as I can remember. After having read anything and everything on the matter, I have decided that for the sake of sanity, and by the logic that simplest answer is usually the correct one, I have decided for myself at least, that the way time-travel works is
simple.
Time-travel, at least in the past, cannot change the past, in the sense that no assasination, or other important event can be stopped, for simply it has already happened. This doesn't mean that time-travel isn't possible, and that you couldn't go back in time and stop the Kennedy Assasination. Were you to, it would change history so that you would never have had the inclination to go back in time and stop the Kennedy assasination, killing President Kennedy.
It is, as you wrote about, a paradox that would essentially make ruin to everything. So under what conditions could you go back in time? I theorize that maybe future time-travellers could only go back in time to times where they were recorded to be there. This would change the entire perspective of what time-travel is, and it will also make your brain do somersaults. You would have to go back in time to make sure that history remains to prevent a paradox. Of course, any right-thinking (and not yet confused) person would realize an indiscrepancy herein: going back in time to fullfill when you were already there is a paradox in of itself. However, the fact that it's a paradox doesn't matter, because it doesn't effect anything.
Please give me your input on what you think of my, least to say different, theory on time-travel.
Hi there, Tim.
Your statement, "for the sake of sanity" made me laugh! Not at you, but with you. Just because all of our minds can't get it!
I am of the opinion that this time, the simplest answer is not the correct one. I don't think the answer to the manipulation of time is "right there in front of us". I do think it (time) will eventually be manipulated by us (in fact, with the new quantum theories and quantum tunneling experiments, it already is- in a way). I just don't expect a Eureka! idea to unravel the mysteries. It's going to have to be approached methodically and I believe our top physicists are on the right track now as they discover the best definition of reality so far from the semi-new quantum perspectives.
If I understand your way around the PARADOX, it sounds very much like Stephen Hawking's protection conjecture. It appears to assume a single, linear timeline. If that were true, TIMETRAVEL simply would not be possible. I believe that the simultaneous existence of TIMETRAVEL and PARADOXES won't work.
Thanks for taking time to share your thoughts with us.

The "paradox energy" arguement as stated above is a bit confusing. If there is such a thing as a way of creating paradox (which there isn't), then events would implode upone themselves and everthing beyond the point of the time traveller's arrival in the past would simply pop like an eternal balloon.
Nothing would be anywhere anymore in that particular Universe.
What people who swear behind paradox fail to take into consideration is the fact that no matter how you bend or stretch it, time is *always* linear. This means that yes, you can go back in time to place that bet you should have made three days ago, but when you jump forward again, you will be in a different future where your other self (assuming he and not YOU made the bet) has won buckets of money and probably has no reason to go back in time. You're stuck penniless and homeless in an alternate present. You could *never* go back to what you thought of as your present. Should there be an actual institute of temporal research, disclaimer #1 sould be:
"Any trip to the past will result in loss of current ownings of property, relationships, and life."
But then again, anyone making a trip into the past probably has nothing or no one to keep them in their present.
Hello, Justin. I agree with you concerning the PARADOXES. But, I'll have to disagree with your thoughts about time being *always* linear. It is from our perspective- from what we humans experience as reality, anyway.
Again, your thinking is right that you could never go back to any point in your past AND INTERACT WITH YOURSELF IN THIS PARTICULAR TIMELINE provided that event is not in your memory. However, that doesn't rule out a backwards/sideways excursion from being a possibility (see previous discussions concerning the sideways element).
Your input is appreciated!

Hi there,
Id like to leave 2 message's & ask your Opinion,
1st of all, Wether or not time travel is possible or not, I always have & always will think its just around the
corner.
Question/thought...1
I can imagine how it's possible to travel BACK in time as the time we would go back to is ACTUALLY there, it's happened, it was real, We have just put it behind us, Its like eating the last slice of cake you baked last week (It exists). But But But, How can anyone travel to a future that isnt there yet, You
cant even eat the 1st slice of cake until its baked. The only way I see it possible to travel foward in time would be to go back 20 years & find someone that wants to travel ahead 10 years, You would be 10 years in your past & they would be 10 years in there future, there future would be your past (it would
exist).
Question/thought...2
It was late 1 night, I were VERY relaxed on my couch with my eye's closed, BUT I WERE AWAKE, In my mind I saw alot of different colours which eventually turned red, I then saw in my mind a lady pouring a cup of tea/coffee in her kitchen
wearing a floral apron, Anyway, I opened my eye's in shock (Due to the clarity of the person I saw in my mind)& within 60 seconds I saw that EXACT SAME image on TV...It wasnt a regular show I watch & after alot of thought I come to the conclusion that I hadent even seen a commercial for the show, I generally dont speak of such experiences due to persecution from people, BUT IT IS AS I SAY IT WAS (Im an idiot, Not crazy). What ive said here (Question 2) does contradict what I say in (Q1) in relation to how can foward be possible, But once more, IT
WAS AS I SAID IT WAS...
Also, I dont think time travel is yet possible due to the fact that if it was possible, it would be Government controlled & Crime rates would drop 100% due to a 100% conviction rate & the same politician would probably hold power forever, & thats yet to be seen...
I await your reply & thought's
Many thanks
Rob
Hi yourself, Rob. First, let me agree with your closing statement. I don't believe that timetravel (TIMETRAVEL as we mean it here) is occuring here in THIS TIMELINE. And furthermore, when it does occur, there will be no evidence of it which trace it to a point of origin IN THIS TIMELINE. It could be happening covertly, but I doubt it. Yes, Government will be all over it, eliminating anyone without the need to know and certainly "used up" project people.
Question/thought...1
To say the least, it is a VERY tricky concept to understand. When you think you've got it, a variable you hadn't considered pops up. AND THAT'S JUST THINKING ABOUT IT!
You're sort of agreeing with my "chair analogy", but, there's still another variable in there; remember I had mentioned I thought it impossible to travel to the future WITHIN ONE'S OWN TIMELINE! But, I think that the present (in a non linear view) is being acted upon by it's past and it's future simultaneously, causing the creation and culminations of the reality we experience. If you traveled with a companion, as you stated, REMEMBER- you're both going to be in alternate timelines. See the [SIDEWAYS EXCURSIONS] talks with previous respondents.
Question/thought...2
I think I partially touched on this accesible future in the paragraph above, except to say I certainly believe you. I mean we're all aware of preconitions, remote viewings and so on. I've even discussed the possibility of FTL tachyons traveling on electrical impulses of the brain, so... it's not as unbelievable or far-fetched as you may think. Many people have had such experiences. I definitely wouldn't ridicule you for that.
I appreciate you stopping by & for taking the time to post your thoughts! Stop in any time!

A Cat scanner has 10,000 times as much electro-magnetic energy as the earth. Time is dilluted inside.
More experiments need to be done but it seems a path
to travelling into the future has been found. Recent experiments have shown that the "many universes" scenario is fact. When
a screen was set up to determine whether light was a wave or a particle it actually became whatever the scientist was testing for. This shows that we select our travel through time from a cuboid including all possibilities and there is no such thing as a l-dimensional time line.
Dr. Smeby
Hello, Dr. Smeby,
I wasn't aware of the time dilation(?) inside a catscan.
I saw a program on Discovery channel and saw that experiment by the study group at Cologne University in Germany. It is mentioned in detail on a previous response page, but I don't remember which one right now.
Yes, I'm well aware of the wave/particle duality experiments and the color/light experiments. I do believe, as you intend, that the universe splits every time an action occurs whether conscious, subconscious, observed or unobserved. Maybe finally we're on the right track in our thinking.
THANKS for stopping in and posting! You're welcome any time!
