I believe that time travel exists.I believe that most of the reported UFO sightings are humans from the future traveling back in time.I know I sound out there and maybe I am but I believe that man will some day be able to create a time machine and may already have in the future.
As for your theory.I agree that if man travels back into the past and does encounter themselves, that a collateral timeline can be created. As was explained in the Back to the future trilogy. But what if using your example of the wining lottery numbers. version1 encounters version 2 and does as version2 tells him,I also believe that version2 will also share in the jackpot.using the example to get to point C one must go through points A&B.There is the question of the 4 days, something does happen in those 4 days to version2 as well and I believe that if nothing else is encounterd when version2 meets with version1 then there is no jump in the timeline, but if an unknown is thrown into the equation say version1 decides to share the good fortune with someone then I would say a collateral timeline can be created either way I believe the future is alterd because if it was not ment for you to be wealthy and suddenly you are then in the 4days of having the money will alter things as you rememberd them when you get back to your time.
Either way the idea of traveling in time intrigues me.I don't believe in UFO's I don't believe in alien abduction, but I do wonder not everyone who claims to have seen a UFO or claim to be abducted are crazy. Is it possible that these so called abductions are the future humans wanting to study men as he was at that time?much like a wild life perservist tags a bird or dolphin.
what do you think?

Hi Peter.
Here's what I think...
What you say may very well be true about the UFO phenomena. I have heard that speculated before and at the risk of sounding a part of the lunatic fringe, or as you more subtley expressed it, "out there", it would explain a lot. Even with the warping technologies of Star Trek, I don't see a plausible explanation that the visitors/abductors/observers are extraterrestrial in origin. That type of distance travel, if it be by the colliding of matter and antimatter for propulsion, would have to be the work of at least a Type 2 civilization. We have, at our disposal, a huge array of instruments capable of detecting this type of technology by their waste product if nothing else. Even though we've "looked" at only a small portion of outer space, we've still looked at enough that if the Drake equation holds up, we should have found at least a Type 2 civilization by now. We haven't. But there's someone other than humans here; from somewhere (or somewhen). If they're human timetravelers, they've arrived from a far distant future point that their bodies and minds have evolved to an unrecognizable form. They're obviously able to manipulate time and reality. Their technology appears as magical to us as ours would appear to our ancestors living in trees or caves.
And yes, of course version 2 can share in the jackpot. You're right as far as Quantum Theory allows. Like I told Wolfgang on page 34, if you don't like the outcome of an action, change it- because the whole thing is nothing more than a subjective experience. The only thing that matters is what matters to you. Something I posted from an earlier page; here:

I'd like to quote David Gerrold now as his character, Daniel Eakins ("The Man Who Folded Himself") is just starting to grasp what he is doing as a timetraveler.
"Every change you make is cumulative; it goes on top of every other change you've already made, and every change you add later will go on top of that. You can go back in time and talk yourself out of winning a million and a half dollars, but the resultant world is not one where you didn't win a million and a half dollars; it's a world where you talked you talked yourself out of it. See the difference? It's slight- but it's important.
Think of an artist drawing a picture. But he's using indelible ink and he doesn't have an eraser. If he wants to make a change, he has to paint over a line with white. The line hasn't ceased to exist; it's just been painted over and a new line drawn on top."

The story goes on to explain that the artist is aware of the process to obtain the final result, and that it affects his consciousness. All "discarded" renderings haven't ceased to exist- JUST PAINTED OUT OF VIEW.
The ONLY difference is the artist!
And forgive me, but another excerpt from the same book here just because the explanation is so well absorbed (at least by me):

"if there was only one timestream, then paradoxes would be possible and time travel would have to be impossible. But every time you make a change in the timestream, no matter how slight, you are creating another timestream. (As far as you are concerned, it is the only timestream, because you can't get back to the first one.)
So
[del] you aren't really jumping through time, that's an illusion; what you are doing is leaving one timestream and jumping to- no, creating -another. The second one is identical to the one you have left, including all of changes you have made in it- up to the instant of your appearance. At that moment you have changed the second timestream into a different timestream. Your mere existence in it is a change."
and later-
That the process is perceived as time travel is only an illusion, because the process is SUBJECTIVE. But because it's subjective, it really doesn't make any difference. It's just as good as the real thing. Better even; because nothing is permanent; nothing is irrevocable.
The past is the future. The future is the past. There's no difference between the two and either can be changed."

Anyway Peter, thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with the world!

Great site! I'm doing research for a book.
I surfed and found your web page and found it very helpful and fun. I have two things for you, first, in response to your theory of John (A) of the future meeting John (B) of the past and having different memories of their past. The EFFECT became the CAUSE! John A's visit created a memory for his past that would immediately become his catalyst. He would then only posses the knowledge of a future that has him traveling to himself. He would then live out his life in anticipation of the event taking place. However, it is now John B's decision to either work in concert with John A's plan or nagate it by avoidance and resistance. Which could not be the case, because at that point in 1996 it did happen.
Whewww! Fun stuff!

Say there, Pat. I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you think to hard about it, it'll hurt, HA!HA!
Sounds like you're getting inside of the minds of John(A) & John(B)!
Actually, they would have to become two separate people at the point of contact. As you recall, John(A) never was visited by a future version of himself. The "tongue in cheek" line from John(A) telling John(B),
"YOU will simply become ME. We're the same person, after all"
This isn't exactly true. And that's where his reasoning throws him off when he goes looking for the money. Here's why I consider this to be true- another excerpt from my essay:
Now here's what I perceive to be the important conclusion: EACH VERSION OF YOU SHARES THE EXACT SAME PAST AND MEMORIES UP TO A SPECIFIC DECISION. This is the shared timeline, or the past, making you the culmination of your actions and subsequent events of your existence.
AND FURTHER DOWN:
The two Johns had literally become two different versions of one person at that point back in 1996.
Does that make sense?
Thanks for stopping in & posting, Pat! You & everyone else are welcome back in any time!

I think your insight into time travel in right on! Becoming free from the limitations of 3rd dimension is a major goal I have for 2004.
I believe "heaven on earth" can be manifested by finding the ideal combinations. Exploring ourselves on different time lines is far out and cool! I enjoyed reading your material.

Hi Emerson!
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it! Good luck with your endeavors. The mind is a lot more powerful than we realize, I'm sure.
Remember, reading is knowlege & knowledge is power!

There is another option to your view of what could possibly occur if you traveled to the past. Saying that all time has always happened and will always happen.
You and your memories are permanent, there is no such possibility of a paradox and time loop, so to speak, where events would continuously repeat themselves or space-time would end. So, you travel back in time and attempt to contact yourself or someone that knew you. Some mishaps will continuously occur, that prevent you from ever changing your past. You will never meet or talk to anyone that ever knew you, so there is no possibility that your memories, and the events that made them up ever changed.
But, for all you know, these events of you traveling to the past happened in your past but you never knew about them. The universe is saved from your folly of attempting time travel, and trying to change the timeline.

Hello Ben! I appreciate your thoughts, but I'll have to disagree with you. That's what "makes the world go around", anyway. If we all agreed, we'd all be bored with nothing to talk about.
What you talk about is a representation of Stephen Hawking's Chronological Protection Conjecture, which he has since retracted ( I think I mentioned this to a recent respondent as well). If you agree with me in some of my earlier posts, then you'll have to admit that only one timeline is all that's ever changed anyway- the one that you're indigeonous to. All of the other infinite possibilities go on just fine, so with that line of thinking, you can "have your cake and eat it too", because something I would change in the past wouldn't affect your reality at all; just mine. Consciousness (observation) plays the key role in the experience.
As an example, if I were to travel back in time and kill Adolph Hitler before he involves the world in a war, I will then exist in a timeline where World War 2 never happened (at least not by Hitler's actions), but you'll still exist in this timeline complete with it's history of World War 2. History is being written constantly in the present and could easily be re-written by a timetraveler. The only thing is; the timetraveler will be the only one aware of the changes that he/she caused.
Thanks for stopping in, Ben. I hope that I've made some sense. Ideas about timetravel are hard to express in words.

I wanted to look into the effects of a gravitational field, and magnetic field in accordance, on our perception of time, or the perception that gravity clocks the aging of matter which we 'perceive' as time.
If n e one has any input email me.

Thanks for your post, eniac. Hope you'll get some responses to your e-mail.

time travel to me would be the most exciting thing to happen next to first contact with another world time travel would be great to to see history as it happened. a person wouldnt want to rewrite the past it would be like when captain kirk traveled back in time to the city on the edge of forever when mcoy had to stop kirk from saving edith keeler from getting hit by the car.
in other words thats why kirk traveled back to bring back what mcoy had changed. i do belive time travel will be possible within the next 50yrs or less. i wouldnt be afraid to travel back to see history as it was!!!!!

Hi Ron.
Yes, a discovery and public announcement of either one of those things would be Earth shattering. Nothing would ever be as it was before.
"The City On The Edge Of Forever" is definitely in my top 5 TOS favorites! The story line doesn't address it, but I believe that the timetraveler(s) would be re-writing history for themselves.
