NAME: Dorothy Colman E-MAIL ADDRESS: Janddcolman@msn.com LOCATION: New Zealand I would realy like to be able to time travel, But I keep going to sleep, is there any method I can use without going to sleep. your Dorothy NAME: adrian g stark E-MAIL: adriangstark@yahoo.com LOCATION: Portland, Oregon My theory is that time must be circuitious because almost everything that occupies space is circular. A way to create a passageway in time would be to create a gamma ray conduit between incoming radiation and earth bound radiation. The resulting connection would tap into the radiation emanating from all the myriad sources in the universe and be concentrated at one focal point. Tne silicon in the earth itself would absorb the radiation and oscillate until the point of creating a rift in the time-space continuum at which point the radiation would most likely disperse. I imagine this would process would occur very rapidly; however, the difficulties rest in establishing the conduit because the earth's weather patterns usually prohibit it on a large scale. NAME: Dave Christie E-MAIL: djc6358@hotmail.com LOCATION: England I have been interested in time travel for many years and it is my favourite branch of science fiction. I would hope that in the future time travel will be possible, how is another question. I also believe that it can be used for good rather than bad and that if properly controlled, whether by governments or private corperations, vast amounts of knowledge would be available to everyone. I even tried to write a story about time travel and how it would be used to collect information about different periods in history regarding humans, the earth and the universe but I ran out of steam on this one. I had hoped to show how the organisation would work to do all this. I believe if properly controlled fortunes could be made by marketing the information brought back. I do not subscribe to the doom and gloom merchants but do believe that care must be taken. Maybe direct contact with the past would be foolish but to be able to observe and record events by being just slightly out of synchronisation with the time being observed would be better. I will keep checking your website for further info on this subject keep up the good work. Absolutely wonderful! I am thinking of writing a screen story where one travels through time, meets himself in the past and interacts much like your scenario. Of course there will be ramifications of their interaction, but my concern is if this actually is indeed possible. Metaphorically, John A and John B should meet if John A were to travel to his past but for now I am looking to make this as real as possible in terms of matter, space and time. We haven't seen this approach in films or books to my knowledge and I'm wondering why. Any light you could possibly shed on the situation? Also if John A and John B exist moving on with their lives in the year 2005, will they belong to the same universe and meet each other or do they exist in alternate universes? Thanks so much. Robert NAME: tmoney209 E-MAIL: tloc7@hotmail.com LOCATION: CA I would like to thank for the simple fact of knowing that reading your essay made me realize that I am not crazy at all. I just found your site today and I only read the first page of responses. I noticed that every entry I read had one thing in common... each and everyone one had crossed my mind at one point of time or another. One example being the simple reference of deja vu. After reading your essay and the reading the first response that mentioned deja vu, the first thing that(crossed)my mind was the same thing the next response had in reference to deja vu. The future trying to get in touch with the past. Now excuse me if what I am saying has alread been said, but once again this is my first time here and I only read the first page-(30 mins). When I give this more thought I will have more possible explainations and ideas. Based on the deja vu, I have the following theory; 1. Anyone who has had deja vu has expierenced a form of time travel. I will give examples from both the future and the past. The present will always be number 1, the past 2 and the future 3. Number 3 visits number 1 to inform number 1 of a future event (there could be many other reasons why). This is when the deja vu occurs. Number 1 has had many, many instances of deja vu. This is Number 3's attempt to connect to number 1. Number 1 knows this feeling and has had this feeling before. The problem, number one does not know what to do. Number 1 has a very limited amount of access to its brain and therefore cannot respond fast enough/cannot grasp what has just occurred. Number 3 only has as much time as the feeling you get when have deja vu to connect. And always the attempt fails. Number 1 is not ready and/or Number 3 has tried too soon. Now is our present state of being. It is what you feel, experience, live, know and remember. If you cannot feel it, experience it, live it, k! now it and remember it, it never was. If it never was, you could never remember it making the past impossible and now hard to grasp. There can never be a past and a future without now. The reason being is simple. Without now there would not be any knowledge of the past nor would there be any dreams of the future. Number 2 could never travel to the point of time number 1 is in because number 2 simply does not have the knowledge that number 1 has and certainly could never attain the knowledge/brain power of number 3. There is one exception. The power of the hope, the dream and the power of will... to be explained shortly. Number 1 can always travel back to number 2. Number 1 one can always think of number 3. Time does not permit number 2 to go to number one because it never happened. Or did it??? Now Number 3 can go to number 2 to change the state of number 1. Number 3 can go to number 1 and change the state of number 1. I give you one question to respond to. Can number 3 go to number 2 and change 1 and 3 and repeat this until the desired result is achieved? Hmmm... Maybe thats deja vu. Going back to number 2's ability to get to number 1. The imagination is what we see. Is that all it is or could it be more? There is a cycle to every process that we know of in the universe. The universe is expanding and will forever as far as we know. This cycle is not yet complete. This may be the only cycle that my never be completed. My simple theory until I gain more knowledge and wisdom on this subject is as follows; The universe expands hits a wall then contracts hits a wall and then repeats. What we see in the sky is the path of all of this. This all happens in an exact form, sequence parralled within the limits of its space. Leaping through time can only be achieved at a specific time and point in space. Then again, how can time be put into something timeless? Time is what we go by. Until we can seperate ourselves from time, we will never be able to travel to different points in space...(to be continued) |
